Case Study: Curtain Wall and Storefront for Weis Markets in Waldorf, MD

A grocery anchor needs an entrance that is visible from the parking lot, welcoming, durable and energy efficient. For the new Weis Markets building in Waldorf, Maryland, CBE Glass delivered the main glazing package.

The scope

  • Curved clerestory curtain wall above the main entrance
  • Ground-level storefront framing and glazing
  • Vestibule glazing and entrance coordination

Challenge: a curved, elevated glass facade

The clerestory follows a curved roofline high above the entrance. Each mullion had to be laid out precisely and anchored to the structure, and every lite installed from lifts while the rest of the site remained active.

Coordination with other trades

Curtain wall must tie into the building’s air and water barrier. Our crew coordinated sequencing with the envelope and roofing trades so openings were ready on time and transitions stayed watertight.

The result

The finished entrance gives the store a bright, modern glass facade that draws customers in and fills the sales floor with daylight. See the full project gallery, read our article Storefront vs. Curtain Wall, or explore our commercial glass services in Maryland.
